GFest – gayWise LGBT arts Festival, known for short as GFest, has announced its 2009 festival programme. The festival will take place at various venues in London including Rich Mix, Cochrane Theater, McKenzie Pavilion in Finsbury Park and The Drill Hall during 9 to 22 Nov 2009

Full festival programme is announced on GFest website: www.gaywisefestival.org.uk

GFest 09 programme was selected through open call for submissions in three categories:

Visual Arts, Short Films & Performances. The programme was chosen by seven eminent selection panel members.

Niranjan Kamatkar, artistic director of Wise Thoughts, an arts charity who organises this festival said, “Now in its third year, GFest 09 features the work of both established and emerging talent. We have taken some risks in selecting work that will challenge audiences.

We are really proud and thrilled to announce its ever-expanding greater artistic contents.”

“A Key event in London’s gay calendar” – Mayor of London

The Festival is recognised as one of the four key events taking place in the capital’s annual LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender) calendar by many people, including the Mayor of London.

“Some GFest short films this year reflect a newfound, confident, queer sexuality of today’s young people.

The festival presents a majority of British or London based LGBT and queer artists but we are also pleased to showcase exciting talent from across the world – from the USA and Europe to Pakistan.” added Niranjan.
