ALAN CUMMING ONE MAN SHOW THIS WEEK ONLY


Tony Award winner Alan Cumming, who has been announced to star in Julie Taymor’s Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark in winter 2010, returns to the West End stage Sept. 1.

The Olivier Award-winning actor offers his solo show, I Bought a Blue Car Today, through Sept. 6 at the Vaudeville Theatre. Cumming will be accompanied by musical director Lance Horne.

His new show is described as “a musical journey peppered with material by Frank Sinatra, Dory Previn, Kander & Ebb and Cyndi Lauper, to name only a few.”

James Tebb is sound designer. Producers are Neil Eckersley and Paul Spicer for Speckulation Entertainment.

Alan Cumming received the Tony Award as Best Actor in a Musical for his performance as The Emcee in Cabaret. He has also been seen on Broadway in The Threepenny Opera and Design for Living. London theatre credits include Bent, The Bacchae, Hamlet at the Donmar Warehouse (for which he won the TMA Best Actor Award), Cabaret, La Bete (Olivier Award nomination), Elle, Conquest of the South Pole (Olivier nomination) and The Accidental Death of an Anarchist at The Royal National Theatre, for which he received an Olivier Award for his performance. Cumming’s screen credits include “X2: X-Men United,” “Eyes Wide Shut,” “Goldeneye,” “Emma,” “Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion,” the “Spy Kids” trilogy, “Nicholas Nickleby,” “Titus” and “Urbania.”

Cumming’s debut solo album, also titled “I Bought a Blue Car Today,” will be released in September.

ALAN CUMMING BRINGS HIS BLUE CAR TO LONDON, FOR ONE WEEK ONLY


For one week only, the multi-talented Alan Cumming will perform his I Bought a Blue Car Today show at the West End’s Vaudeville Theatre (September 1 – 6), following its sell-outs in New York and Sydney. Time Out New York gave it 5 stars, calling it “A little piece of Vaudevillian wonder packaged up in one hell of a sexy Scotsman,” and the New York Times said Cumming “exudes the fabulousness of a brash showbiz kid”.
