The 24th London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival is set to hit the capital’s SouthBank for the last fortnight of March, bringing an eclectic, ground-breaking, sometimes devilish, oft heartbreaking collection of films whose commonality is their celebration of gay – or just queer! – culture.
Established in 1986, the LLGFF is now the third largest film festival in the UK – and arguably the world’s most important and influential gay and lesbian celluloid extravaganza.
Brought to us by the BFI – British Film Institute, whose home is on the SouthBank – this season promises a strong programme of feature films, shorts, artists’ presentations as well as more experimental work and a series of talks and discussions from the participants themselves. Be warned – tickets are always sought after, so book early to avoid disappointment.
Talking of which, online booking opens Tuesday, 3rd March – but BFI members can secure tickets via post from 26th February.
