Top Ten LGBT things to do in Brighton, England

Thinking of a holiday by the sea? Brighton is Britain’s best seaside LGBT destination, only 45 minutes south of London. Below are our top ten suggestions on how to truly experience LGBT Brighton.

1. Get Some Revenge

One of Brighton’s big gay pleasures offering different nights 5 times a week, there is something for everyone.

2. Attend Brighton Pride

Brighton Pride celebrates everything LGBT in a week long extravaganza of events and parties culminating in a spectacular carnival parade and party in Preston Park.

3.  Buy Something Naughty and Nice

Visit She Said, a boutique selling Lingerie, Corsets, Hosiery, Shoes, Party wear, Adult Toys. Club wear, Books, Art and Gifts.

4.  Visit a Temple…

A temple of relaxation that is. A small and intimate space welcoming gay and bisexual men from 2pm until 5am every day.

5.  Take your Meds at Doctor Brightons

Spend some time at this Brighton institution, with views across the sea making it a popular place to sit outside during the summer months, and the cozy interior draws the crowds in the winter.

6.  Download a Cool City Walk

From trendy North Laine area, to the Royal Pavilion, then on to the many attractions along the seafront and of course, around the famous Lanes.

7.  Take a tour of the Royal Pavilion

This stunning seaside palace of the Prince Regent (George IV) is one of the most dazzling and exotic buildings in the British Isles. A must see.

8. Get Hitched

Brighton was recently named the most popular place in the UK for civil partnerships.

9.  Go shopping in the Artist’s Quarter

Housing a collection of quaint and funky artist’s studio spaces.  Grab a coffee and enjoy the art hunt.

10.  Don your fanciest hat

Fancy a day at the races? Check out John Smith’s Race Day where you can wear your fanciest hat and place a bet at a course where the turf meets the surf.

ABBAWORLD EXHIBITION GETS ITS WORLD PREMIERE IN LONDON IN JANUARY

ABBAWORLD, the new interactive exhibition for mega-fans (or just fans!) of the Swedish popsters, has its world premiere in London in the new year.

As well as the 25 rooms rammed with exclusive music, images and previously unseen memorabilia from the personal collections of the famous four (the other famous four!), there’ll be the interactive Perform with ABBA, which allows visitors to get up on stage with Agnetha, Benny, Bjorn and Frida as part of a 3D holographic illusion, as well as the Tretow MIX Challenge - your chance to recreate the ABBA sound! Oh, and all interaction will be recorded, allowing visitors to access it later online at www.abbaworld.com!

ABBAWORLD is fully approved and supported by the band. Frida said, “On behalf of Agnetha, Bjorn, Benny and I, we are delighted to be part of ABBAWORLD and to have the opportunity to share our amazing experiences with our fans. The interactive elements mean this is the first time we can actually take them on the journey with us. London has a special place in all our hearts and we are looking forward to the world premiere of ABBAWORLD in January.”

Tickets go on sale at 9am on Thursday December 3 from www.livenation.co.uk

GAYWISE LGBT ARTS FESTIVAL

GFest – gayWise LGBT arts Festival
London Special Event
NOV 9TH 2009 – all day TILL NOV 22ND 2009

London’s gay art festival announces ambitious programme

GFest – gayWise LGBT arts Festival, known for short as GFest, has announced its 2009 festival programme. The festival will take place at various venues in London including Rich Mix, Cochrane Theater, McKenzie Pavilion in Finsbury Park and The Drill Hall during 9 to 22 Nov 2009

Full festival programme is announced on GFest website: www.gaywisefestival.org.uk

GFest 09 programme was selected through open call for submissions in three categories:

Visual Arts, Short Films & Performances. The programme was chosen by seven eminent selection panel members.

Niranjan Kamatkar, artistic director of Wise Thoughts, an arts charity who organises this festival said, “Now in its third year, GFest 09 features the work of both established and emerging talent. We have taken some risks in selecting work that will challenge audiences.

We are really proud and thrilled to announce its ever-expanding greater artistic contents.”

“A Key event in London’s gay calendar” – Mayor of London

The Festival is recognised as one of the four key events taking place in the capital’s annual LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender) calendar by many people, including the Mayor of London.

“Some GFest short films this year reflect a newfound, confident, queer sexuality of today’s young people.

The festival presents a majority of British or London based LGBT and queer artists but we are also pleased to showcase exciting talent from across the world – from the USA and Europe to Pakistan.” added Niranjan.
